Defining Livable Luxury...

About Us

Bob Schaerer
Principal and Founder

As a boy, Bob would draw fantasy homes on a laptop drafting board in the back seat of the car en route to the family cottage on Lake Charlevoix. At 16 years old, Bob began working in the industry as a draftsman through a co-op high school program. At 18, Bob was free-lancing for a handful of residential builders, adapting model home elevations to the home buyer’s preferred architectural style. Combining these early work experiences along with his schooling in Architecture & Design at Lawrence Tech, Bob was a V.P. of a major design-build contracting firm by 27 years old . It was there that he began his journey of working closely alongside contractors and architects to create dream environments for upscale, discriminating clients.

In 1985, Bob founded Schaerer Design Inc., but in 2005 changed the name to Schaerer Architextural Interiors, which more accurately represented the firm’s depth of experience as well as scope of services.  Over the 40 years of owning the business, Bob & his staff have designed 100s of upscale projects in Michigan, Florida, the Bahamas, Colorado, California, New York, & London, England. Schaerer Architextural Interiors regularity receives Awards for their designs in Detroit Design Magazine as well as a number of other design publications.

Although work & anything “design” related is Bob’s perfect passion, he also enjoys spending time with his family. Bob’s hobbies include hiking, biking, snow shoeing, cooking for friends, travel & just hanging out at the beach.

Why choose Schaerer Architextural Interiors?

In addition to our stellar work, and over 40 years in the business, you can rely on our ability to listen and an unwavering attention to detail. We start with a conversation about you, your lifestyle, preferences and your goals for each space. From there, we define your style with “livable luxury”, infusing your personal taste into “architextural brilliance.” The final design will seamlessly marry your vision with the architectural elements of the interior.

We’re grateful to do what we’ve always wanted to do--work with people to discover their unrevealed style within. If you’re ready to define your style with “livable luxury”, we’d be honored to show the way.

Our Philosophy

At Schaerer Architextural Interiors, we believe in defining and implementing your interior style with our philosophy of “livable luxury” by:

  • Discovering and then safeguarding your practical objectives and the resulting artistic vision through focused communication throughout each phase of the project.

  • Producing a beautiful, creative interior design that co-exists harmoniously and enhances the building’s architectural features.

  • Orchestrating our efforts with the architects and contractors to create an integrated synergy of architectural structure and interior beauty.

  • Ensuring that your goals and desires for design & expenditure are prioritized and respected throughout the new construction process.
